A Diamond Guitar

When thrift store gems disappoint, an unfortunate possibility which ill befell me on a trip to Savers yesterday, I look to the pastgems.com catalogue. It preserves in virtual reality the ceremony of a hunt for the perfect bauble in 3D, sacrificing none of the nostalgic associations of costume jewelry. Stumbling on this vintage brooch reminded me of Capote's short story, & true to plot-line, my heart was strummed to soothed of its thrifting upset prior.

Read Macbeth this morning. Temporary Shakespearean tone accounted for.

The Love of the Last Tycoon

RM by Roland Mouret's Ziad skirt suit.
Availaible via net-a-porter for the fancies and mature.

If all office wear were as fantastic, I'd get myself a cubicle and consider myself employed.

For Me With Love & Squalor

Top item on my Christmas wish list: a tankishly beautiful sort of men's watch that I imagine on the dainty wrist of Esme, one of Salinger's most memorable characters. Though my holiday wish will most likely not come true, I decided to gift myself the satisfaction of ogling some oversized and, in my case, overpriced specimens which fit the bill Salinger lays out in his short story, "a military-looking one that looked rather like a navigator's chronograph. Its face was much too large for her slender wrist."
